A perpetual pilgrimage to honor Saint Damien deVeuster.
         Approximately eighty miles (80) in length, by foot, following roads and trails The Saint  walked.

Father Damien served the windward (East) side of The Big Island of Hawaii from Honokaa in the North to Kalapana in the South in 1864 and 1865.
He walked the roads a
nd trails of  these lands working among the Hawaiian people.

You can make this individual pilgrimage to honor Saint Damien.
Visit lovely little churches and historic sites as you walk along a coastline of breathtaking beauty.

Public bus service will take you from Downtown Hilo to Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Honokaa where your individual pilgrimage begins.
Public bus service is also available from Star of The Sea Painted Church in Kalapana back to Hilo on completion of your journey.

 

Pope Benedict XVI elevated Blessed Damien of Molokai to sainthood on October 11, 2009 in Saint Peter's Square in the Vatican.
